Spray‘s Aviation students were fortunate enough to visit the Madras airport recently on a field trip, where they were greeted by the airport manager, who graciously took the students into the Erickson collection hangar, which houses many of the most famous warbirds, including three Boeing B-17 flying Fortresses, a P-38L Lightning, a Douglas SB Dauntless, among many others.
They were then taken to the hangar that converts MD-87 McDonald Douglas airliners into Erickson Aero tankers that fight fires. During this time, each student was also able to fly in a Cessna 172 and get a lesson from a CFI under the EAA Young Eagles program.
Needless to say, it was a wonderful Aviation day!

Regular School Board Meetings have been changed to the second Wednesday of each month. They will continue to be held at 7 PM unless otherwise specified.

"Earlier yesterday, we distributed an announcement regarding re-opening the bidding process for a surplus school bus. The announcement indicated we had not received any bids during the initial bid period. Upon further review, it has been determined that a bid was received before the bid period had expired; therefore, the Board of Directors is obligated to review that bid prior to making a determination about the surplus bus. The Board is scheduled to open and review the bid on Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 p.m. Any bids received as a result of the announcement of re-opening the bidding process will be returned to the individual/entity submitting the bid.
We apologize for any confusion caused by our failure to identify the initial bid as having been received within the announced bid period."

Wheeler County Community School is looking for an after-school program site coordinator.

Basketball Update: Unless something weird happens Friday or Saturday, the girls will be in the 2nd place spot on our side of the district and the boys will be 3rd. If we win, the boys would travel to Dufur on Thursday for a 6:00 game. The girls would go to Trout Lake on Friday for a 6:00 game. The finals will be in The Dalles on Saturday. (3rd place games and Championship games) Top three from each district along with 8 wild card teams (based on OSAA rankings) will continue in the state playoffs.
